Cambrian Interlocking Slates cannot use flashing as they are nailed together, preventing the installer from being able to slide flashing underneath or remove without damaging the tiles.
Before using SolVe Mounts, the NHS project in the video were looking at removing up to 6 Cambrian tiles per mounting, each tile taking 5+ minutes to remove. Traditional roof hooks & flashing on Cambrian Interlocking Slates would require tile removal - dramatically increasing the cost of labour, caused unexpected delays and damaged a lot of tiles.

Installing on Cambrian Interlocking Slate
Cambrian interlocking slate is a popular synthetic slate alternative that combines the aesthetic appeal of natural slate with the practical benefits of interlocking design. The SolVe Mount uses a 28mm diamond core to create a precise opening in the slate or 'working area' to access the rafter. Our expansion seal expands when compressed, pressing outwards on the walls of the core hole and expanding beyond, creating a permanent watertight barrier. Forces are channeled directly to the rafter, ensuring the slate itself carries no load.
Understanding the interlocking design: Unlike traditional slates, Cambrian slates interlock via a side channel system. This channel cannot be blocked by the seal as it would dam the channel - risking water running off into the roof. For optimal seal performance, position the SolVe Mount to the left or right of the join/channel.
Positioning guidance: With a 0-70mm mounting zone from the overlapping slate, you have plenty of flexibility to position the mount on the slate surface.
How to install:
CORE - 28mm diamond core to create your 'working area' to access the rafter.
DRILL - Pre-drill using the drill guide provided.
FIX - Screw in the fully assembled SolVe Mount. If using the all in one install method, the seal will compress as the bolt enters the rafter. Alternatively tighten once installed. For Cambrian slate, no adjustment is typically needed unless the battens require raising the seal height.
